The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has provided the Moldovan Customs Service with six mobile offices for joint control at the border with the EU.
The equipment donation ceremony was held on Thursday at Leuseni Customs with the participation of U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Kent D. Logsdon, Moldovan Customs Service leadership, and representatives from the Moldovan business community. The mobile offices are part of the USAID-funded Moldova Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity Program (MISRA). They are designed to conduct single-stop control at the Moldovan-Romanian border. The size of each office is 6x2.4 meters, which allows it to be transported by regular trucks, the offices are soundproofed and thermally insulated, equipped with highly efficient interior lighting and an electrification system that allows for easy connection to the network. Each mobile office is equipped with 4 workplaces with "windows", fully furnished and equipped with computer equipment, air conditioners and refrigerators. The mobile offices can be used both in summer and winter. Thanks to this USAID assistance, Moldova and Romania will soon launch a pilot project for joint control at the Leuseni-Albita checkpoint. This will relieve significantly the traffic on the border and will facilitate the export and transit of goods at the border with the EU (Romania) in the current crisis conditions. // 08.09.2022 - InfoMarket
