Moldovagaz has received until September 30 a deferral of VAT payment on natural gas imported in April-August.

The relevant decision was approved by the National Emergency Situations Commission. In derogation from provisions of the Customs Code, Moldovagaz was allowed to extend the term of payment of import rights for the natural gas transported through pipelines in April-August 2022. According to Moldovagaz Chairman Vadim Ceban, the new gas tariff approved by ANRE does not cover either the purchase price or expenses for transportation, supply and distribution of natural gas and, as a result, it will lead to further accumulation of tariff deviations, which may exceed 3.9 billion lei by the end of this year, which will have a negative impact on the company`s activity. He noted that Moldovagaz will comply with the decision of the national regulator on regulated prices for natural gas, but the figures set in it put into question the fulfillment of financial contractual obligations to Gazprom. In this situation, the company has asked the supplier to postpone the August payment and sent a letter to the National Emergency Situations Commission asking it to postpone payment of VAT on natural gas for the April-August period inclusive. Another proposal of Moldovagaz is to introduce advance payments by thermal power enterprises and/or transfer the historical debt of 660 million lei for the natural gas consumed by them in August. // 12.08.2022 – InfoMarket
