The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development is preparing a project for the modernization of the Marculesti International Airport and the Energy Strategy until 2025.

Andrei Spinu, Deputy Prime Minister and head of the ministry said this during the presentation of the results of the ministry's activities over the past year. He noted that the ministry is closely working on the project and will present it in the nearest future. He added that due to the ministry's efforts, Moldova was excluded from the EU's black list of air transport operators; the railway sector was put in order. Salaries were increased and paid, railroad segments were repaired, and a major program was launched in the transport sector, which will allow transport companies to renew the car fleet. Spinu noted the establishment of work in the field of rehabilitation of road infrastructure - today all projects are implemented within the established deadlines, as well as a program of restoration of bridges over the Prut River. The mayoralties have received impressive resources from the Road Fund in order to restore local roads, and investments in this area will continue. An unprecedented support for mayoralties will also be offered within the program "European Village" - over 2 billion lei has been allocated to finance 492 projects in mayoralties (improvement of street lighting, construction of water and sewage pipes, etc.). Among the important realizations of the year, Spinu mentioned the approval of the law on condominium, reduction of roaming tariffs, beginning of preparation of the town-planning code and creation of conditions for development of projects in the field of energy efficiency. Spinu also said the first energy strategy of Moldova until 2025 will be presented this fall. "We want to be independent and cannot depend on one source of supply. We have made amendments to the Law on Electricity, and since May we already buy 30% of electricity from Ukraine. In July, we approved a law on natural gas, which will allow us to form the necessary gas reserves. In the next 1.5 years, III Energy Package will be implemented. In spring 2023, we will start installing the poles of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau transmission line, a project that should have been implemented a long time ago. We have ensured the interconnection to the European electricity network ENTSO-E," said the minister. He also stressed that preparations for a hard winter are underway. Moldova has signed a loan agreement of 300 million euros with EBRD, which will allow forming gas stocks and use them if necessary (today Moldova has 24 million cubic meters of gas in gas storages). Also, with the support of foreign donors, the Moldova Energy Efficiency project will be realized, which will increase the energy efficiency of public buildings. // 08.08.2022 – InfoMarket
