The Cabinet of Ministers of Moldova has approved a draft ratification of an agreement with Qatar on the abolition of short-stay visas for holders of ordinary passports.
This intergovernmental agreement was signed on June 12 in Doha, it contains 12 articles regulating the conditions and terms of entry, stay, transit through the territory of the State Party by citizens of the other party who have valid ordinary passports, as well as the procedure for the entry into force, amendment and denunciation of this legal act. In accordance with the provisions of the agreement on the abolition of short-stay visas for holders of ordinary passports from Moldova and Qatar, citizens of the parties holding valid ordinary passports may enter, transit and stay in the territory of the other party without a visa for up to 90 days within 180 days, provided that the purpose of the stay is limited to tourism, transit, business or business interest, as well as the performance of official functions. Nationals of each party who intend to stay for more than 90 days within 180 days will be required to obtain a long-term visa. The agreement will contribute to the development and intensification of friendly relations, strengthening economic, trade, scientific, technical, cultural ties between the two states and peoples. According to the MFAEI, the policy of facilitating the conditions for the movement of citizens of the two states is a clear evidence of the concern of the authorities of both states for the realization of the right to free movement of their citizens. It is planned that the abolition of the visa regime will increase the flow of Moldovan and Qatari citizens wishing to travel to the territory of another state, which will contribute to the development of mutual cooperation in all areas and will stimulate bilateral trade.// 24.08.2022 — InfoMarket.
