
Moldova's trade deficit in January-August 2023 totaled $3 billion 041.4 million, up 3.7% (+$108.8 million), compared to the same period in 2022.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that, in particular, Moldova's trade balance deficit amounted to $377 million in August, up $42.1 million (12.6%) from the previous month, but $73.6 million (16.3%) less than in August of the previous year. Overall, in January-August 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, Moldova's trade deficit with EU countries increased by 14.9% - to $1 billion 101.8 million, with CIS countries - decreased by 51.5% - to $423.1 million, and with other states - increased by 37.6% - to $1 billion 516.5 million. According to the NBS, the largest deficit of Moldova's trade balance in 8 months of 2023 was in trade with China - $631.1 million (up 6.7% compared to the same period of 2022).
