
Moldova's trade deficit in 2022 was $4 billion 884 million, up 21.1% (+$851.7 million) as compared to 2021.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that in December 2022, Moldova's trade deficit was $524.3 million, up $21.8 million (4.3%) from the previous month, and $95.1 million (22.2%) from December the previous year. Overall, in 2022, compared to 2021, Moldova’s trade deficit balance with the EU countries increased by 48.4% to $1 billion 824.4 million, with the CIS countries decreased by 20.6% to $1 billion 142.5 million, and with other countries increased by 40.6% to $1 billion 917.1 million. According to NBS, the largest trade deficit of Moldova in 2022 was in trade with Russia: $955.4 million (up 22.8% as compared to 2021).
