Moldova will change rules for awarding the Grand Prize for special achievements in the viticulture and winemaking sector and introduce two new categories of awards
This is envisaged by the draft amendments to the regulatory framework related to this competition. Until now, the Grand Prize has been awarded annually for achievements in the viticulture and winemaking sector since 2002 (except for 2021). The authors of the draft also propose to establish a trophy for the best producer of signature wine and a trophy for the best divin. Some criteria for selecting winners will also be adjusted. The explanatory note to the draft notes that out of 255 companies included in the viticulture and winemaking register, many large companies received the Grand Prize repeatedly, since small ones could not compete. The expansion of the award categories is intended to increase the motivation of small producers, as well as companies that produce wine-based products. It is worth noting that the Grand Prize was awarded twice to Cricova (in 2002 and 2017) and Chateau Vartely (in 2009 and 2023), while Vinăria Purcari was awarded 4 times (2008, 2012, 2022 and 2024). The draft government resolution was discussed at a meeting of state secretaries and will be sent to the government for approval. // 20.05.2025 — InfoMarket
