Government has approved quality and marketing requirements for fresh and dried legumes
The regulatory act introduces clear requirements for quality and trade, which will facilitate the process of growing and marketing legumes, contributing to increased added value in agriculture and expanding market opportunities for Moldovan farmers. For consumers, the new requirements guarantee safer and higher quality products with information about their origin and characteristics. The resolution approved by the Cabinet of Ministers is intended to promote the diversification of agricultural production and increase the efficiency of agricultural land use. The Ministry of Agriculture noted that, in addition to their high nutritional value, legumes play an important role in agriculture by helping to improve soil fertility through nitrogen fixation. According to the Plant Variety Catalog, in 2023, 35 varieties of peas, 14 varieties of beans, 4 varieties of chickpeas, and 2 varieties of lentils were registered. In 2024, a significant increase in the number of pea varieties (up to 45) is expected. // 30.04.2025 — InfoMarket
