To receive European funding for the agricultural sector, Moldova must develop a digital register of farmers and obtain accreditation from the Integrated Management and Control System.
This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea during the second technical meeting this year on coordinating the activities of donors within the Council on Foreign Assistance in the Agricultural Sector, held in the agricultural department. The purpose of the session was to discuss the progress and importance of projects supported by external assistance, with the aim of bringing them into line with European standards and improving the management of the agricultural sector. Vladimir Bolea noted the importance of external assistance in the implementation of key projects: Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS), Agricultural Accounting Information Network (RICA), Agricultural Information System, Chambers of Agriculture, Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS), etc. The head of the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that agriculture is a dynamic sector of the national economy, which is in the process of administrative and economic reform to bring it into line with international requirements. “We have important projects for the agricultural sector and we have made great progress. We are pleased to continue developing this sector in collaboration with our trusted friends and partners. You have the experience to find and develop specialized solutions,” said Vladimir Bolea. According to him, one of the main goals of the sectoral department is to promote agriculture as a profession in accordance with European principles. “As long as you work in agriculture, you are constantly learning. Agricultural chambers and counseling centers will make a significant contribution to promoting this concept of lifelong learning. Without these structures, farmers may remain isolated from the ministry's initiatives and projects,” said the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry. He added that the development of the agricultural sector requires cooperation and joint efforts. “There are many programs, many tasks. To be successful, we need to have good connections with farmers. The chambers of agriculture will become a bridge between the state administration, farmers and everyone involved in agriculture,” he emphasized. During the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture also noted the achievements and reforms implemented in the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA), as well as successful programs such as AGGRI and initiatives for the rehabilitation of irrigation systems. He also emphasized the importance of digitalization. “To benefit from European funding, Moldova must obtain Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS) accreditation. A significant step in this direction is the development of a digital register of farmers. It is extremely important to collaborate to create these platforms and ensure effective data management,” concluded Vladimir Bolya. // 28.06.2024 — InfoMarket
