Moldova plans to harvest about 1.01 million tons of sunflower this year – the Agriculture Ministry.

The Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry reported this, noting that the sunflower is currently being harvested. It has been sown on an area of about 388.9 thousand hectares, and its production is expected to amount to about 1.01 million tons. The Agriculture Ministry emphasized that authorities support farmers through subsidies for diesel fuel used between November 16, 2022 and June 29, 2023. After September 30, farmers will be able to apply for diesel fuel purchased between June 30, 2023 and September 30, 2023. One of the issues often discussed in the Ministry of Agriculture is related to the price of sunflower and the problems of its export. At the most recent meeting with grain producers and exporters on September 18, 2023, the issue of prices and imports of grains and oilseeds from Ukraine was discussed. Customs Service representatives present at the meeting provided relevant information, noting that there were no imports of sunflower seed from Ukraine between September 1 and September 25.
