About 160 dossiers for direct payments in the livestock sector, worth 73 million lei, have been submitted in Moldova so far.

The Agriculture Ministry reported this, noting that the applications for direct payments per head of animal can be submitted to the territorial offices of the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA) until September 30, and the applications for direct payments per kilogram of production: cow's milk - until September 15. The Agricultural Ministry informs that in order to prevent major obstacles that could complicate the process of granting direct payments per head of animal and per kilogram of livestock products received and sold, the Ministry of Agriculture held a meeting with producers of dairy cattle and representatives of the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA). Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, reiterated the importance of developing business in the livestock sector and incorporating it into local value chains. "Farmers invest millions of euros to implement the latest technologies and create better living conditions for animals. These efforts are and will continue to be supported through government programs. For decades, this sector has faced a number of challenges and constraints that have limited the competitiveness of domestic products. Now we are focusing on livestock farming by increasing subsidies to livestock breeders. Investments in this sector will also increase due to the project "Agriculture Governance, Growth, and Resilience Investment (AGGRI)" with a total cost of $55 million," said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture. As InfoMarket reported earlier, within the first tender for direct payments in the livestock sector, according to the Agriculture Ministry's order, 150 million lei has been allocated. The Regulation on granting direct payments in the livestock sector from the National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development stipulates that the direct payment in the livestock sector is granted per head of animal and per kilogram of production and is paid to the owners of cattle, sheep, goats and horses. The amount of payments is set depending on the support measure, within the approved limits (from 400 lei per yoke older than 3 months to 5 thousand lei for mares and stallions or heifers older than 12 months and from 3 to 25 lei per kilogram of meat and dairy products and up to 7 thousand lei per kilogram of fish material). The regulation prescribes the procedures for submitting and examining applications for direct payments; eligibility criteria for applicants; the procedure for verifying and monitoring the payment of this category of subsidy, etc. // 12.09.2023 - InfoMarket.
