Moldova asks the EU to include it in all European support programs and platforms, including for farmers, in order to face all challenges.

Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Minister Vladimir Bolea stated this while speaking at the conference "European Farmers' Deal" organized by the European People's Party, which discussed the party's vision for agriculture in Europe. The event was attended by members of the European Parliament, as well as deputies of national legislative assemblies, ministers of agriculture, experts, and representatives of specialized organizations. According to the Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture, the conference was a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with representatives from all over Europe to promote modern, sustainable and climate-adapted agriculture. Vladimir Bolea made a presentation at the conference on the state and prospects of development of this vital sector in the context of climate change, as well as on the negative impact of the war in Ukraine on the agricultural sector in Moldova. In this context, the head of the Agriculture Ministry asked to include Moldova in all European support programs and platforms, including for farmers, in order to face all the challenges. "Only together, with joint efforts, we can become stronger in the fight against poverty. We need support to maintain the solidarity lane, to save farmers on the brink of disaster," said Vladimir Bolea. He also met with Daniel Buda (EPP, Romania), Vice-President of the European Parliament's Commission on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI), and discussed the strengthening of cooperation and support in the agricultural sector. The Agriculture Ministry said that this meeting represents a significant step towards the consolidation of Moldova's ties with the European Union in terms of agricultural development. Vladimir Bolea also met another Romanian MEP, Vice-Chairman of the EPP group, Chairman of the European Parliament's Delegation to the European Union-Moldova Parliamentary Committee for Association, Siegfried Muresan. The MEP said that Moldova and the EU cooperate more closely than ever, and the European Parliament should give a clear signal to Chisinau about the launch of EU accession talks. He said that Moldova is the country which (with the exception of Ukraine) has suffered the most due to the war in Ukraine. In this context, Vladimir Bolea said that "Moldova needs support to solve the problems faced by citizens, especially farmers, in order to face the challenges and continue reforms on the path of European integration." Siegfried Muresan said that he will propose the European Commission to provide Moldova with additional support and technical assistance for reforms, so that Moldova can start accession negotiations as soon as possible. "The Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture remains committed to promoting modern, sustainable and efficient agriculture and this participation in the European Conference demonstrates our choice to pursue these goals. Moldova needs support on its European path," said Vladimir Bolea. // 20.09.2023 – InfoMarket
