Affected by the 2022 crises, small grain producers will be able to receive one-time assistance.
This is provided for by the draft Regulation on establishing the procedure for providing assistance to farmers affected by the consequences of crises in 2022, which was developed by the Ministry of Agriculture and registered with the State Chancellery. According to the project, one-time assistance will be received by micro and small farmers who cultivate grain crops of the first group - wheat, barley, oats, triticale - on an area from 0.5 to 1,500 hectares. The amount of assistance will be determined depending on the total number of applications submitted by agricultural producers, using the beneficiary categorization coefficient, depending on the area of agricultural land that each applicant cultivates. The maximum amount of assistance per beneficiary will be 400 thousand lei. The list of beneficiaries and the amount of assistance will be established by the Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture based on the applications of small farmers. The draft regulation contains a list of documents that the applicant must submit, the mandatory conditions for receiving assistance, formulas for calculating assistance and the procedure for transferring it to beneficiaries. It is planned that after the approval of the document by the government, a collection of applications will be announced, which will last until August 10, 2023. This type of one-time assistance will be provided only to small grain farmers who suffered the most from the last year's crises (the war in Ukraine, disruption of supply chains, shortages and rise in prices of fertilizers, high inflation, low purchase costs of agricultural products, etc.) and need support otherwise they may go bankrupt. According to preliminary estimates, about 3,000 farmers will receive assistance. //27.07.2023 – InfoMarket.
