The Power of Farmers Association will hold a nationwide protest on June 7.
A press release from the organization says that the meeting with Prime Minister Dorin Recean was fruitless. “We once again heard several general promises for an indefinite period, while the vast majority of small and medium-sized farmers are at risk of bankruptcy in the next 2-3 months, as we reported at the meeting. Unfortunately, even some specific promises have not yet been fulfilled,” the organization said, emphasizing that the prime minister also refused to sign a memorandum on the fulfillment of at least part of the requirements put forward by the farmers. As a sign of protest, the association announced that on June 7 a protest of farmers would be organized in the regions of the country. At the first stage, farmers will take agricultural equipment to 20 agreed protest zones (located on the roads Balti-Edinet, Drochia-Soroca, Chisinau-Soroca, Orhei-Rezina, Chisinau-Balti, Hincesti Highway, Chisinau-Cahul, Cahul-Giurgiulesti, etc. ). “If we are not heard, the protest may spread to the capital. The requirements remain the same,” the association said, emphasizing that the protest is purely economic in nature. As a reminder, on May 17, the Farmers Power Association appealed to the government with a demand to take measures to support agricultural producers: by August 1, to provide compensation for the production costs of small and medium-sized farmers in the amount of at least 3 thousand lei / ha of grains of the first group, to prohibit the import of agricultural products from Ukraine, to oblige the Giurgiulesti port to export only the products of Moldovan agricultural producers, to pay all debts on subsidies for 2022 by July 1, to amend the VAT refund program. // 06.06.2023 — InfoMarket
