Moldova is among the top 20 largest wine producers and ranks 13th in terms of wine exports while the best Moldovan wines will be featured at the European Political Community summit on June 1.

The National Vine and Wine Office reported this, noting that about 50 high-ranking European officials attending the summit of the European Political Community will be able to taste many Moldovan wines, blends of local varieties, some of which have won awards at many international competitions. High quality Moldovan wines are now exported to more than 70 countries of the world, including EU countries. Also the participants of the summit will be presented sparkling or liqueur wines, which will be combined with traditional desserts, and thus, the guests will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the Moldovan gastronomy and wine culture. The interim head of the National Vine and Wine Office, Elizaveta Breahna, noted that in recent years Moldovan wines have received international recognition from the most authoritative experts, foreign journalists, connoisseurs and wine masters, who have praised the high quality of Moldovan wine products. "And the June 1 event will be a new opportunity to confirm that Moldova is a recognized place for the production of high quality wines," said the head of the National Vine and Wine Office. She noted that the EU market has become one of the most important markets for winemakers from Moldova, and Romania, Poland and the Czech Republic are among the leading European states that prefer wines produced in Moldova. Wine currently accounts for 8 percent of the country's total exports, and this figure may expand in the future after the June 1 summit of the European Political Community, which will be attended by about 2,000 guests. //23.05.2023 - InfoMarket.
