Moldova will not yet limit imports of grain and oilseeds from Ukraine, but will introduce stricter monitoring of their supplies.
The Ministry of Agriculture reported this, noting that Moldova will control the amount of grain imported into our country from Ukraine and will not join the EU restrictive measures. This decision was approved after talks with farmers. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea said that the government is focused on solving the economic problems of farmers, listing the actions that will be taken in this regard. "We have agreed to control grain imports from Ukraine to prevent a potential influx of grain. In this way, we will be able to intervene when grain flow increases significantly. A similar mechanism has been developed in Romania. At the same time, we will develop economic measures that will reduce the cost of production. It was decided that we will add 100 million lei to the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA) fund during the first budget adjustment. The money will be used to subsidize the excise duty on diesel fuel, which will allow farmers to cut the expenses they had last autumn. At the same time, we will develop a program of subsidizing the cost of fertilizers used to sow crops in autumn 2022. We strongly believe that in this way we will reduce production costs and our agricultural products will compete with cheaper products from Ukraine," Vladimir Bolea said. According to statistics, about 400 thousand hectares were sown with winter crops in Moldova last year. // 11.05.2023 - InfoMarket.
