IFAD will provide grants to finance infrastructure projects in rural areas of Moldova.

The IFAD Consolidated Program Implementation Office has announced the call for applications for financing infrastructure projects under the Capacity Building for Rural Transformation (IFAD VIII) program. The project will co-finance investments in irrigation infrastructure (to irrigate farmland up to 100 ha) and road infrastructure. The beneficiaries of projects for the development of irrigation systems will be able to receive grants of up to $300,000, and projects in the field of road infrastructure - up to $200,000. Applications for participation can be submitted by local public authorities together with groups of small farmers, interested associations, agricultural enterprises, legal or natural persons engaged in economic activities. In order to receive a grant, potential beneficiaries must meet a number of criteria: proposals for irrigation system projects must be submitted on behalf of an applicant that includes at least 20 small farmers or producers with an area of cultivated land up to 10 ha; for projects for the construction or repair of rural roads - at least 50 farmers/producers; economic agents must have at least 1 year experience in the agricultural sector or in the processing industry; the land and/or infrastructure object for which funding is requested must be on the balance sheet of the mayor's office or on the balance sheet of the Agency Apele Moldovei, the project must be social, etc. More information is available at https://bit.ly/3GwMBth.
