The European Union is actively studying Moldova's request for the right to export poultry meat and eggs to the EU and will soon make a decision on this issue.
This was reported by the National Food Safety Agency, noting that on Tuesday, its representatives held a technical discussion with experts from the European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) on Moldova's request for granting the right to export poultry meat and eggs to the European Union. In his opening speech, the National Food Safety Agency Director General Radu Musteata stressed that obtaining the right to export poultry meat and eggs to the EU market is a priority for the Moldovan government. He noted the most important progress made by the National Food Safety Agency in line with the recommendations of the 2021 audit mission: hiring veterinarians at the National Food Safety Agency to improve the monitoring of slaughterhouses and production units; approval of requirements for quality, labeling and sale of eggs for human consumption; development of a certification procedure for exporting products of animal origin to the EU; improvement of state supervision in the field of animal health, etc. In turn, the Directorate General for Health and Food Safety representatives highly appreciated the positive results registered by the National Food Safety Agency recently, in particular, the acceptance of the recommendations of the audit missions from 2021 and their application in practice. The contribution of the Twinning project in this matter was also highly appreciated. In conclusion, the Moldovan side was informed that the application for the right to export Moldovan poultry meat and eggs to the EU is being actively analyzed for a subsequent decision.// 10.05.2022 - InfoMarket.
