The government will allocate 200 million lei for partial compensation of the excise tax on diesel fuel used by agricultural producers in 2022.

The government will allocate 200 million lei for partial compensation of the excise tax on diesel fuel used by agricultural producers in 2022.

This is provided for by the Government-approved Regulation on the procedure for distributing funds from the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas for partial compensation of the excise tax on diesel fuel used by agricultural producers in 2022. It is agreed that 200 million lei will be allocated for these purposes from the state budget, in particular from the National Fund Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas, and distributed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry through the Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture. As Minister of Agriculture Viorel Gherciu noted, excises on diesel fuel will be compensated to farmers in the amount of 30% of the established amount for 2022 (894 lei per ton). According to the document, the maximum amount of compensation awarded to one beneficiary cannot exceed 100,000 lei per year. All agricultural producers, both in vegetable and livestock production, will have the right to compensation. To be eligible for compensation, applicants must meet the following criteria: be registered in accordance with the procedure established by law no later than the date of submission of the application for compensation; legally own and (or) own and use agricultural land, farmland; diesel fuel for work on farms must be purchased from the date the adopted regulation enters into force. Compensation dossiers must be submitted to the territorial subdivisions of the Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture. As the head of the Ministry of Agriculture noted, the need to approve the mentioned provision is due to the regional context, which led to an increase in prices for agricultural products and a doubling of the cost of diesel fuel. At present, a liter of diesel fuel costs about 27 lei, which is 15 lei more than last year, when it was purchased in bulk at a price of 12 lei per liter. High prices for fuel and mineral fertilizers will lead to an increase in the cost of production and, along the chain, an increase in prices for finished products, especially for socially significant ones. State assistance in the form of partial compensation of the excise tax on diesel fuel used by agricultural producers in 2022 will help ensure the country's food security. // 27.04.2022 — InfoMarket
