The Chisinau International Airport Administration will relaunch the open tender for the reconstruction and expansion of the passenger terminal building

According to the administration of the Eugen Doga Chisinau International Airport, the public procurement procedure for the reconstruction and expansion of the passenger terminal building is being optimized. This decision was made following an in-depth technical assessment of the design documentation, conducted at the level of each department, as well as an analysis of the level of participation in the procedure. As a result, aspects requiring adjustments were identified. This is necessary to improve the clarity, attractiveness, and competitiveness of the project. The documentation will be updated and refined in the near future, after which the procurement procedure will be relaunched: information will be republished on both national and specialized international platforms to ensure broader participation by economic operators. The airport administration reiterated that the passenger terminal modernization project will be fully financed from the airport's own revenues, and its implementation is planned in stages, without affecting current operations. As a reminder, the airport administration announced an open tender in early November 2025. The tender concerns the reconstruction of the airport's existing passenger terminal complex, adjacent territory, access roads, and utilities, in order to increase the area of passenger service areas, including waiting rooms, through the addition of new structures, the redevelopment of existing ones, the modernization of the terminal complex's engineering and technological equipment, passenger service equipment, etc. The project will expand the airport's passenger area, reduce congestion, improve passenger comfort, and transform Chisinau Airport into a modern and efficient air hub. The terminal expansion project was developed by the state-owned Organization for Territorial Planning, Urban Development, Construction, and Housing (OATUCL) at the airport's request; the project cost is 6.5 million lei. The project includes the reorganization of check-in and baggage claim areas, the construction of new departure areas, and the implementation of modern technologies such as FAST TRACK (to expedite and predict passenger flow), ABC Gates (automated passport control), and the integration of intelligent systems with self-service elements during baggage handling. The project will also expand waiting areas and the business lounge, and add additional amenities such as a covered terrace and showers for passengers. It was previously reported that Chisinau Airport will invest over 700 million lei in expanding the passenger terminal. The tender procedures announced in November were scheduled to be completed within two months, with the work itself scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026. Due to new circumstances, the airport administration will announce on its official websites the completion of the documentation review and reopen the tender.// 15.01.2026 – InfoMarket.
