In Moldova, 28 new local road modernization projects will be implemented under the "Europe Close" program
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development announced this, noting that more than 43,400 people from 42 localities across the country will benefit from road infrastructure modernization, including 18.35 km of municipal roads and streets, 6.77 km of pedestrian paths and access roads to public institutions, and 1.42 km of local roads of district/municipal significance. Project financing contracts were signed on January 12 at the National Bureau of Regional and Local Development by representatives of the beneficiary local authorities and the acting director of the National Bureau of Regional and Local Development, in the presence of Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea. "These roads change not only infrastructure but also people's lives and comfort. It is important that the work is carried out efficiently and that every leu is used correctly and for its intended purpose. "We want as many communities as possible across the country to enjoy modern and safe roads, and to achieve this, we will continue to ensure the implementation of all 579 projects selected under the Europe Close Program," emphasized Vladimir Bolea. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, 28 new projects are part of the third package of the Europe Close Program, which includes 133 initiatives approved for funding by the National Council for Coordination of Regional and Local Development. In early December 2025, the first contracts for 61 projects from this package were signed. The third batch of projects will be added to the 220 initiatives launched in July 2025, bringing the Europe Close Program to 353 projects approved for funding out of a total of 579 selected for implementation. All projects are included in the Unified Program Documentation for 2025–2027 and will be financed from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development.
