Contracts have been signed in Moldova for the installation of modular water treatment systems in the first four settlements selected as part of the Decentralized Drinking Water Supply for Moldova project, with a total value of €12 million
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, on Friday, the first four settlements selected as part of the Decentralized Drinking Water Supply for Moldova project signed agreements on the implementation of the project. More than 21,000 citizens of the commune of Ciorescu, Chisinau municipality, Anenii Noi, Mereni village in Anenii Noi district, and the commune of Boscana in Criuleni district. Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea, together with representatives of the Chisinau Regional Development Agency and the Center Regional Development Agency, as well as the mayors of the four settlements, signed agreements on the implementation of the project. It is planned that six modular water purification systems manufactured by the Belgian company BOSAQ BV will be installed in the beneficiary settlements: Ciorescu – 1, Anenii Noi – 2, Mereni – 2, Boscana – 1. The amount of financial assistance provided to local authorities in the form of a grant is more than €141,000 per installation. Over the next two years, as part of the “Decentralized Drinking Water Supply for Moldova” project, it is planned to install 85 modular drinking water treatment systems, which will provide access to drinking water for more than 55,000 citizens. The loan agreement between the Moldovan government and the Belgian government, signed in June 2025, provides for a €12 million loan for the Decentralized Drinking Water Supply for Moldova project. Earlier it was reported that the loan would have a maturity of 30 years, including a 10-year grace period without interest payments. The interest rate will be 1.5% per annum. The overall objective of the project is to gradually provide access to safe water for the population in rural areas of Moldova, thereby contributing to improving health and quality of life, as well as promoting the country's economic development. BOSAQ kiosks are drinking water purification units with a capacity of 500 liters per hour.
