This week in Moldova, the working day and school will start at 9:00 a.m. to reduce the risks associated with traveling in difficult road conditions
In addition, depending on their responsibilities, government officials will decide whether it is possible to work online. The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and the National Army will provide support to local authorities upon request. At the same time, economic agents will carry out ice removal work in areas adjacent to subordinate headquarters. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu announced the decisions that had been taken. He called on citizens to show responsibility and solidarity, to take care of those around them – family, friends, neighbors – especially people in vulnerable situations, to follow the recommendations of the authorities, and to avoid unnecessary risks. The head of the Cabinet noted that the government is continuing its priority measures to ensure uninterrupted transport, combat icing, and restore power supply, as well as to ensure that everyday life can continue safely. In connection with the adverse weather conditions, a number of measures have been taken at the national level: The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Energy have activated crisis response protocols and are carrying out priority measures to ensure uninterrupted transport, maintain traffic on national and regional roads, combat icing, and restore power supply in the affected areas. State agencies have been mobilized and are working in a coordinated manner to clear roads, maintain the functioning of essential services, and protect the safety of the population. 91 units of special equipment and 319 employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations participated in the work to prevent and eliminate the consequences of emergencies. At the national level, the National Roads Administration has deployed 115 technical units to spread more than 1,075 tons of technical salt and about 295 tons of anti-skid material. Electricity distribution system operators are working to repair damage to the network throughout the country. The pre-hospital emergency medical service received 2,716 requests. Traffic is congested on many national roads, including the M1, M2, M3, M5, R2, and R3. Measures are being taken on all these sections, with approximately 135 vehicles and 195 employees involved. Citizens are advised to avoid non-essential travel, especially in the morning hours and on affected road sections; to adapt their speed to road conditions and follow the instructions of the police and road services; to ensure that their vehicles are properly equipped for winter conditions; to exercise extreme caution when walking; pay extra attention to vulnerable groups and provide them with support; contribute as much as possible to the cleaning and clearing of areas adjacent to shopping centers, residential buildings, pedestrian walkways, and high-traffic areas to prevent accidents and facilitate movement. For up-to-date information on traffic restrictions, temporarily closed roads, and the power supply situation, citizens are strongly advised to refer to the official channels of the National Roads Administration, the Ministry of Energy, and the National Police.
