Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement, will visit Moldova on June 4–5 to promote reforms on the path to EU accession and attract investment
According to the EU Delegation to Moldova, she is visiting our country to support its path toward EU accession. In particular, Marta Kos will discuss Moldova’s progress in implementing reforms and will help attract further investment ahead of the second EU–Moldova Summit, scheduled for June 22 in Brussels. On Thursday, Marta Kos will meet with President Maia Sandu to discuss reforms related to EU accession, particularly in the justice sector, as well as domestic developments and the regional security situation. A joint press conference will follow the meeting. The European Commissioner will also hold a working lunch with Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and senior government officials, focusing on the implementation of the Growth Plan for Moldova and the impact of external shocks caused by the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. On the same day, together with Maia Sandu and Alexandru Munteanu, Marta Kos will open the first EU–Moldova Investment Conference. This event will mark the first anniversary of the launch of the Growth Plan and will focus on investments that strengthen supply chains between the EU and Moldova and enhance the country’s economic growth potential. In the evening, she will meet with representatives of civil society to discuss their role in shaping Moldova’s EU accession process. On Friday, alongside the Prime Minister, Marta Kos will open the Moldova Digital Summit 2026, dedicated to accelerating European integration through innovation. The European Commissioner for Enlargement will also meet with Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, members of the parliamentary committee on European integration, and opposition leaders to discuss the pace of reforms and inclusivity among parliamentary factions. Finally, together with Maia Sandu, Marta Kos will meet with youth representatives from EU member states and partner countries to exchange views on the state of democracy in Europe and how to strengthen its resilience in the face of external threats and challenges.
