Germany reaffirms support for Moldova’s European course
This was stated by Günther Krichbaum, State Minister for European Affairs at the German Federal Foreign Office, during a meeting with Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu. The parties discussed Moldovan-German cooperation and Germany’s support for Moldova’s European course, noting that an increasing number of European states recognize the country’s belonging to the European space and support its progress in the process of European integration. Günther Krichbaum assured that Germany will continue to support Moldova’s European path—both at the political level and through the strong support that already exists within German society. The Moldovan Prime Minister, in turn, noted that Moldova is resolutely continuing on its European path and doing its homework to advance as quickly as possible in the EU accession process, feeling increasingly strong and motivating support for the country’s European future. The parties also discussed Moldova’s reintegration and support for Ukraine and its citizens during the meeting. In addition, on May 18, Günter Krichbaum met with the Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament. Igor Grosu thanked the German official for the consistent support provided to Moldova in the political, economic, institutional, and security spheres. Moldova established diplomatic relations with Germany in 1992. Currently, 86 agreements are in force between the countries in the areas of financial and technical cooperation, social protection, development cooperation, investment protection, and others. // 18.05.2026 — InfoMarket.
