This was discussed at the National Conference on Domestic Tourism Development in Moldova and the International Forum on Tourism Skills within the framework of the Skills Pact, which was attended by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization. During the event, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization Mihaela Gorban noted that, in the context of European integration, the development of modern and sustainable tourism is becoming part of the process of economic convergence with EU standards and gradual integration into the European economy. She emphasized that tourism is not only about destinations and services; it is also about local economic development, investment in local communities, and opportunities for entrepreneurs across the country. Discussions covered the development of domestic tourism as a strategic economic sector, the competitiveness of the HoReCa industry, strengthening professional skills, promoting local destinations, and cooperation between government, the private sector, and development partners. The conference brought together representatives from government agencies, academia, the private sector, the HoReCa industry, European and international partners, professional organizations, and local industry representatives.
