The Moldovan Customs Service is accelerating the digitalization of e-commerce and integration with European systems
According to the service, these issues were discussed at the regional meeting of the CEFTA Secretariat's Group of Customs Experts on E-Commerce, held in Skopje, North Macedonia. The Moldovan delegation was led by Carolina Gargaun, Deputy Director of the Customs Service. The event was attended by customs authorities from CEFTA countries, international experts, representatives of postal operators, and IT specialists responsible for the development of modern information systems for e-commerce. The meeting discussed the implementation of electronic data exchange between customs authorities and postal operators, modern approaches to risk management, as well as European practices for taxation of postal items and the digital compatibility of logistics systems. According to Carolina Gargaun, the development of digital infrastructure and process automation remain strategic priorities for the Customs Service, and the service continues to implement IT solutions that enable real-time data exchange, expedite customs clearance, and reduce the processing time for international parcels. According to her, the development of digital tools and risk analysis mechanisms will facilitate cross-border trade and enhance the security of e-commerce channels, ensure more effective interaction with postal operators, and support the creation of a fully digital, secure, and modern customs system compatible with European practices. The meeting was organized with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the CEFTA Secretariat as part of the RegioTrade/EU4Trade project, funded by the German government and co-financed by the EU. // 19.05.2026 — InfoMarket.
