Moldova is analyzing the possibility of implementing modern solutions used by Romania in the field of urban mobility and digitalization

In particular, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea, accompanied by the Ministry’s state secretaries Mircea Păscăluță and Nicolai Mîndra, paid a working visit to the municipality of Buzău, where models of urban mobility, digitalization of public services, and urban development were analyzed, which could be adapted for Moldovan cities. During discussions with Buzău Mayor Constantin Toma, solutions already implemented at the local level were reviewed, ranging from intelligent traffic management to access to European funding for infrastructure projects. At the same time, opportunities for cooperation and the development of joint projects were explored. At the Intelligent Traffic Management Center, the delegation from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development analyzed how traffic flows are managed in real time using adaptive traffic light systems and urban data integration. These solutions enable rapid response and data-driven decision-making, directly impacting urban mobility. The visit also included a ride on an electric bus along the mobility corridor—Unirii Boulevard—where modern public transportation solutions, such as dedicated lanes, electric buses, and electronic ticketing systems, were examined on-site. These solutions contribute to faster, more predictable, and more accessible transportation for city residents. The digitalization component was complemented by a presentation on fleet management platforms, the Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) concept, and integrated passenger information solutions that simplify interaction between citizens and public services. At the same time, the delegation familiarized itself with urban renewal and active mobility projects, including the development of public spaces and the implementation of bike-sharing systems, which contribute to creating more friendly and better-connected cities. The visit also included discussions with representatives of the Buzău County Council aimed at identifying areas of cooperation and initiating partnership projects. // 17.04.2026 — InfoMarket.
