Japan will support the development of cross-border logistics and rail freight transport in Moldova
This was discussed during a meeting between Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Vladimir Bolea and State Secretary Mircea Pascăluță and a group of representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). During the discussion, a report titled "A Study on Data Collection for the Development of Cross-Border Logistics," developed with support from JICA, was presented. The study analyzed logistics flows by transport modules, the current status of exports and imports, freight logistics demands in Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine, and ways to facilitate the transition from road freight to rail. Proposals for short- and medium-term free cooperation programs were also discussed during the meeting. A separate topic was the analysis of a project to equip the state-owned enterprise "Moldova Railways" with equipment, specialized machinery, and railcars for infrastructure maintenance. The possibility of organizing study tours to Japan for representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the Railway Ministry was also discussed.// 15.04.2026 – InfoMarket.
