The toll for heavy-duty vehicles will be calculated according to the mileage and not according to the axle load

Government has given a positive opinion on the relevant amendments to the Tax Code, supporting the idea to abandon the fixed rate of the fee for exceeding the axle load of vehicles. In particular, the draft law envisages a change in the Tax Code of the rate of the toll for the use of roads in case of exceeding the permissible weight load on the axle: instead of the fixed amount of 20 thousand lei for exceeding the axle load up to 2 tons and 60 thousand lei for exceeding more than 2 tons, set from 2025, the fee will amount to 3 lei for each ton of excess per kilometer and, respectively, to 6 lei. This will eliminate the imbalance between different categories of carriers and will ensure a fair treatment of all economic operators in this sector. The draft law should be approved by Parliament. // 20.03.2025 - InfoMarket
