Deutsche Bahn, a German railway concern, will contribute to the restoration and modernization of Moldova's railway infrastructure.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, along with the state enterprise "Railways of Moldova" (CFM) it starts cooperation with Deutsche Bahn. According to the Ministry, the railway infrastructure, stimulation of economic development of CFM, facilitation of cargo transportation were discussed at the meeting of the Ministry and CFM representatives with Deutsche Bahn Engineering team. During the meeting, the CFM representatives made a presentation on the current situation in the railway transport sector, the mechanism of management and operation of the railway infrastructure, as well as discussed problems related to mobility. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Mircea Pascaluta, emphasized that the railway sector is undergoing a complete reform, and at this stage of the development process, technical assistance and support for feasibility studies are needed. On the other hand, representatives of Deutsche Bahn expressed willingness to support the ministry's efforts to develop the sector by creating a modern logistics hub. They also discussed the possibility of improving internal and management audit processes and introducing best practices at the enterprise. It is planned that due to the projects on restoration and modernization of railway infrastructure the volume of transported cargoes will be increased, regional and international connections will be improved. The Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry stressed that the modernization of the Moldovan railroad is aimed at maximizing the movement speed, creating a safe, efficient and sustainable railway network that meets the current and future needs of Moldova and its international partners, and this cooperation is an important step in this direction. // 15.05.2024 - InfoMarket.
