Romania has started preparing a feasibility study for the construction of 4 new bridges across the Prut River to connect with Moldova.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova Andrei Spinu reported this, noting that, in particular, the National Agency for Public Procurement of Romania has approved the documentation for the feasibility study for the construction of 4 new road bridges across the Prut: Costesti-Stinca; Leova-Bumbata; Leca-Falciu; Barboieni-Raducaneni. The tender for a highway level bridge to be built over the Prut in the Ungheni-Ungheni localities is also ongoing. The new deadline for submitting bids is until January 31. The main characteristics include: 261.2 m - length of the new bridge over Prut, 2 lanes in each direction + sidewalks, 13 m width of the new bridge (Stage I) + 11.25 m (Stage II); 8 m width of the road part; 1 km length of the route; 4 x 3.75 m road part of the link road. The contract period is 24 months, of which 6 months for design and 18 months for construction, and funding is provided by European grants. "With other bridges Giurgiulesti-Galati (already repaired), Leuseni-Albita, Sculeni-Sculeni, Cahul-Oancea, we will provide interconnection with Romania and directly with the European Union. The bridges will provide greater security and improve the movement of trucks through Moldova, increase trade and integrate RM even more strongly into the TEN-T European Road Network. The construction of these 9 bridges over the Prut is one of the strategic priorities in the Moldova 5+ Infrastructure Rehabilitation Plan and in 2024 we will continue to move forward and build bridges that unite," Andrei Spinu said. // 22.01.2024 - InfoMarket.
