No air carrier has canceled flights from Chisinau airport, while in the case of Wizz Air there was a technical error in the reservation system, which will be eliminated in the nearest future - AAC.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova (AAC) reported this while commenting on the information spread in the public space about the possible cancelation of flights operated to Moldova. The Chisinau airport confirmed that there was a technical error in the booking system of Wizz Air, and now the airline is working to eliminate it and restore the canceled flights. Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu said that Wizz Air confirmed that there was a technical problem in their system due to a change in the airport code and the issue is to be resolved within a day. "We don't have any information about the suspension of flights. Both last night and today Wizz Air confirmed this technical problem," the Minister said. The Civil Aviation Authority also confirmed that the reason was due to a code change, noting that it is a solvable technical problem. It should be noted that earlier passengers received notifications from Wizz Air that it will cancel some flights from Chisinau airport starting from January 15. InfoMarket reported earlier that, Chisinau International Airport will have a new abbreviation from January 18, 2024 - RMO (Republica Moldova), and the former abbreviation (IATA aviation name of the airport, code) KIV - an abbreviation of the name of the city of Chisinau in Russian will no longer appear in the flight schedule. // 03.01.2024 - InfoMarket
