
Imports to Moldova in January-October 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, decreased by 4.8%, amounting to $7 billion 126.6 million.
The National Bureau of Statistics reported that, traditionally, the majority of goods were imported into the country by road transport - 79.3% of the total volume. Maritime transport accounted for 8% of total imports, railway - 3.9%, air - 1.9%, self-propelled imports - 0.7%, postal items - 0.1%, and the share of fixed transport installations (gas pipelines), electrical networks) – 6.1% of total imports. In particular, the volume of imports of products from the EU countries to Moldova in January-October 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, decreased by 0.1% - to $3 billion 460.6 million, from the CIS countries - decreased by 31.6% - up to $1 billion 275.3 million. Import of goods from other countries increased by 10.8% - up to $2 billion 390.6 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan imports increased from 46.25% to 48.56 %, the share of CIS countries decreased from 25.92% to 17.9%, and the share of other countries increased from 28.83% to 33.55%. The TOP countries, which accounted for the largest volumes of Moldovan imports over 10 months in 2023, included: Romania (15.2% of total imports), China (11.6%), Ukraine (11.5%), Turkey (8.8%), Germany (7.1%), Italy (5.5%), Russia (3.9%), Poland (3.7%), India (2.6%), France (2.4%), Hungary (2.1%), Czech Republic ( 1.8%), Bulgaria and Greece (1.7% each), USA and Spain (1.4% each), Japan (1.1%), Austria, Belarus, Slovakia, the Netherlands (1% each), Great Britain (0.9%). Analysis of the evolution of imports by country in January-October 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, shows an increase in imports to Moldova from Turkey (+18.6%), Ukraine (+12.7%), Greece (up 2 .2 times), China (+8.3%), Kazakhstan (2.9 times), UAE (6.6 times), Italy (+7.7%), Germany (+5.5%), Japan (+41.2%), France (+12.9%), Slovakia (+37.2%), Czech Republic (+16.6%), Vietnam (+39%), Azerbaijan (2.1 times ), Sweden (+38.5%), Poland (+3.8%), Spain (+10.6%), Ecuador (+49.7%), Egypt (1.9 times), Georgia (in 3.2 times), Great Britain (+9%), Austria (+6.4%), North Macedonia (2 times), Bulgaria (+3.3%), Bangladesh (+31.7%). At the same time, the volume of imports to Moldova from the following countries decreased: Russia (-72%), Romania (-16.4%), India (-14.2%), USA (-13.5%), Belarus (-12. 3%), Uzbekistan (-38.3%), the Netherlands (-6.6%). In the import structure for 10 months in 2023, significant shares were occupied by the following groups of goods: oil, petroleum products and related products (15.9%); electrical machines and equipment and their parts (7.7%); motor vehicles (6.9%); gas and industrial products obtained from gas (6.1%); yarn, fabrics, textiles and related products (3.5%), medicinal and pharmaceutical products (3.5%); industrial machines and general purpose devices; parts and spare parts for these machines (2.9%); specialized machines and devices for specific industries (2.6%); apparatus and equipment for telecommunications and for recording and reproducing sound and images (2.6%); vegetables and fruits (2.5%); clothing and accessories (2.5%); processed metal products (2.3%). // 15.12.2023 - InfoMarket.
