Moldova and Ukraine will sign an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the Cosauti-Yampil road bridge as soon as possible.

President of Moldova Maia Sandu said this at the press conference on Monday, June 1, on the occasion of the European Political Community summit. She noted that she had agreed to sign the agreement as soon as possible during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the summit. As InfoMarket agency earlier reported, on February 23, 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers of Moldova approved the signing of an intergovernmental agreement with Ukraine on construction of a road bridge across the Dniester River c. It was planned that the road bridge across the river Dniester/Nistru on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border in the area of Cosauti-Yampil will be built by the end of 2023 and will have the length of 641 meters, two traffic lanes, two safety lanes, two bicycle paths, two sidewalks and a 667-meter elevated bridge on the Ukrainian side. The construction of the border road bridge will connect the road infrastructure between the states, on the highway T-02-02 Mogilev-Podolski-Yampil-Kryzhopil-Bershad-Uman (Ukraine) and the national road R14.1 R14-Cosauti - border with Ukraine (Moldova). In addition, the road network through the eastern part of Moldova will be connected to the international road network, which will facilitate trade on domestic and international markets. It was said that the Ukrainian Government will finance the technical design of the bridge, including its construction, as well as the construction of the accompanying infrastructure on its territory, and the Moldovan Government will build the accompanying road infrastructure on our territory. The cost of construction of the access road to the bridge on the territory of Moldova was estimated at 900 million lei. The Avtostrada group of companies (GC) was chosen as the construction contractor in Ukraine. In May 2021, the Service of Highways in Vinnytsa region announced a tender for the construction of the bridge over the Dniester River near the settlements of Yampil and Cosauti. Avtostrada GC won the tender, committing to build this object for 3 billion 386 million hryvnias. The authorities of Moldova and Ukraine noted that the implementation of the project to build the bridge Yampil-Cosauti will create the fastest route from the central region of Ukraine to the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe. It was also noted that the mentioned bridge over the Dniester River is of strategic importance for Moldova, as it will significantly reduce the travel time from Chisinau to Kyiv. // 05.06.2023 – InfoMarket
