Giurgiulesti port may start cooperation with companies from the People’s Republic of China.

This was discussed at a meeting held by Chinese Ambassador to our country Yan Wenbin with Mathias von Tucher, CEO of Danube Logistics, which is the general investor and operator of the Giurgiulesti port. The meeting discussed the operational capabilities and prospects of the port: aspects of possible cooperation with Chinese companies to attract their investment in the port, its equipment, as well as the implementation of special construction work in the port. As InfoMarket agency previously reported, in 2022 the Giurgiulesti port set a new record for cargo transshipment - over 1.8 million tons, which is 30% more than the previous record result in 2021. Mathias von Tucher noted that Danube Logistics is at the final design stage expansion of the general cargo terminal, which is currently used at maximum capacity, through the construction of a universal key, which involves an investment of $7 million.“Thus, the transshipment capacity will be increased by 700 thousand tons per year, and the projected facility will be put into operation in 2024,” he stressed. Danube Logistics is the general investor and operator of the Giurgiulesti port. Since 2005, Danube Logistics has made the port of Giurgiulesti one of the most successful ports on the Danube, helping to promote the trading activities of Moldovan companies in international markets. Danube Logistics is wholly owned by the Dutch company Danube Logistics Holding BV. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is the sole ultimate owner of the Danube Logistics group of companies.// 19.05.2023 - InfoMarket.
