
Moldova, Ukraine and Romania discussed problems in the transport sphere with European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean.
In particular, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova Andrei Spinu, Minister of Transport of Romania Sorin Grindeanu and Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Mustafa Nayyem during the video conference with Adina Valean considered many problems in the transport sector in the region under current conditions, with the priority given to liberalization of road transport for Ukraine and Moldova, and ways of expanding the routes and opportunities for Ukraine export, including through Moldova, to the EU, particularly through the Danube ports of Galati and Tulcea In his speech, Andrei Spinu requested the support of the European partners for the liberalization of freight transport, reduction of waiting times at the customs border with Romania, as well as for the construction of bridges between Romania and Moldova and Moldova and Ukraine and connecting our country to the Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T). Deputy Prime Minister reiterated the Moldovan Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry's interest in the modernization of the railway sector, restoration of railroads, including the European gauge, equipping the Moldovan railroad with wagons for passenger and freight transport. He also mentioned the concentration of efforts to expand the Giurgiulesti port and increase its trade capacities. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, in order to ensure food security in the region, agreements on liberalization of automobile transportation with Ukraine and Moldova are expected to be signed for the time being. New agreements will facilitate the access of road carriers of Ukraine and Moldova to the European Union. The new agreements will provide a solution for the economies of Ukraine and Moldova, and our country will be able to resume exports, which suffered from the blockage of the Black Sea ports. // 13.04.2022 - InfoMarket
