The volume of cargo transported by the State Enterprise "Railway of Moldova" in January 2022 amounted to 95.38 million t/km and exceeded the traffic figures in the first month of the year over the past 5 years.

This was reported by the press service of the state enterprise, noting that in January 2022, the “Railway of Moldova” showed good results in terms of transported goods, the total volume of which amounted to 95.38 million ton-kilometers, of which 40% of the total volume was exported grain, 30% - transportation of transit goods, and the remaining 30% were imported and local transportation of goods, including construction materials and fuel. It is emphasized that the volume of cargo transported in the first month of 2022 was higher than that recorded in January 2016-2019, while last year the transportation of a similar volume of cargo was recorded only on April 4. As noted in the State Enterprise "Railway of Moldova", the registered growth is largely due to the efforts of the enterprise, which ensured in a short time the restoration of the rolling stock necessary for operational activities, while the rolling stock fleet was replenished with 150 wagons for the transport of grain products, 600 wagons for the transport of goods of various types, 240 gondola cars, 40 fuel tanks and 6 locomotives. A very important component in this process was the identification and timely allocation of resources necessary for the purchase of parts, components and consumables needed to carry out the necessary work to repair the rolling stock, as well as some critical sections of the railway. The State Enterprise "Railway of Moldova" stated that the company continues to work closely with the government, especially with representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the Public Property Agency, to promote the railway sector restructuring program, investment projects and improve the financial situation of the company. // 07.02.2022 — InfoMarket
