The Technical University of Moldova has launched the most powerful academic high-performance computing system in Moldova worth €720,000

The investment was made possible by the Moldova Higher Education Project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Education and Research with financial support from the World Bank. The new computing system is equipped with a powerful multi-core architecture optimized for complex tasks, modern graphics cards for artificial intelligence applications, professional graphics rendering, and 3D modeling. The system has extensive memory for unlimited multitasking, ultra-fast data storage solutions with impressive read/write speeds, a high-speed network suitable for real-time processing, and remote access via dedicated virtual machines. Thanks to this system, the university is expanding its opportunities for international cooperation and increasing its attractiveness for large-scale research projects, providing students, master's and doctoral students with the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies at the level of the world's leading centers of excellence. At the supercomputer's opening ceremony, Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun announced that Moldova will join the European High Performance Computing (HPC) network in October and plans to connect to the European AI Factory initiative to develop human potential as part of this transformation. It is worth noting that over the past four years, the Technical University has received two grants totaling more than €5.6 million under the Moldova Higher Education Project. // 22.08.2025 — InfoMarket.
