
In the first half of 2025, revenues of Moldova’s mandatory health insurance funds increased by 22.5%, while expenditures rose by 12.1%
The National Health Insurance Company reported that in the first six months of 2025, mandatory health insurance funds received over 6.88 billion lei, which is 1.2 billion lei (22.5%) more than in the same period last year. The bulk of the revenue – almost 67% – came from contributions as a percentage of wages, amounting to around 4.58 billion lei (+578 million lei compared to the first half of 2024). Fixed contributions amounted to over 328 million lei (+69 million lei), while other revenues, including those from IT park residents, reached 143 million lei (+30 million lei). At the same time, in January–June 2025, the expenses of the mandatory health insurance funds for medical services, reimbursable drugs, and medical devices increased by 889 million lei (+12.1%), exceeding 8.33 billion lei.
