Since the beginning of 2025, over 3,000 people have been identified in Moldova who worked in almost 800 companies without being officially employed
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, this is a record number of unemployed workers identified. "In the first six months of the year, we managed to legalize more workers than in the whole of 2024. This confirms the effectiveness of the reforms launched and the high professionalism of our colleagues from the State Labor Inspectorate," said Alexei Buzu, head of the Ministry. According to the Ministry, since January, inspectors have checked 1,629 employers and the working conditions of 18,128 people. As a result, 3,051 people working without official registration were identified at 793 employers. In June alone, the State Labor Inspectorate conducted inspections at 78 companies, and violations were found in half of them, including 267 illegally employed workers, 74% of whom were subsequently officially employed. The Ministry believes that the number of people employed confirms the need to continue working to ensure compliance with labor legislation and protect workers' rights. To combat informal employment, the Ministry launched a special campaign in November 2023. Controls are focused on companies with a higher risk of informal employment: trade/HoReCa, construction, services, agriculture, transport, etc. The Ministry reiterated that undeclared work is not only an economic problem but also jeopardizes the fundamental rights of workers, such as the right to a pension, access to healthcare, compensation in the event of accidents at work, and other benefits. //26.06.2025 – InfoMarket.
