Meal coupons can be provided in electronic format, and can be used, among others, by employees working night shifts

The Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance reviewed the draft amendments to the Law on Meal Coupons, developed by the Ministry of Finance based on proposals received from economic operators, employers and employee representatives. The document proposes the possibility of providing meal coupons for night work hours for employees involved in mixed shifts - day and night. According to the authors, this will ensure fair treatment of all employees. It is also proposed to set the validity period of meal coupons - 6 months from the date of crediting the funds to the employee's payment instrument. This measure will ensure the use of coupons for their intended purpose - to support regular meals for employees - and will prevent the accumulation of funds in accounts, ensuring a constant flow of food benefits. Coupons can be used not only in traditional catering outlets, but also for online payment. This innovation will expand the opportunities for employees and simplify the process of using coupons. The document also contains stricter rules for special accounts to which food stamps are credited - this measure is aimed at increasing transparency and control over their use. Operators issuing food stamps will be required to provide the State Tax Service with information on the stamps issued. The amendments must be approved by parliament.//25.06.2025 – InfoMarket.
