Moldovan citizens permanently residing in Italy and Latvia will be able to exchange their driving licenses without additional exams
In particular, this is provided for by an intergovernmental agreement with Latvia on the recognition and exchange of driving licenses, signed in Riga on May 19, 2025, as well as a draft intergovernmental agreement with Italy on the mutual recognition of driving licenses for the purpose of their conversion, the signing of which was approved by the Moldovan Cabinet. These documents will facilitate the mobility of citizens, provide a clear and effective legal basis for the conversion of driving licenses, and strengthen bilateral relations in the field of transport and internal affairs. Latvian and Italian citizens residing in our country will also enjoy the same benefits. “We continue to expand the list of countries with which we have signed such agreements,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean. Moldova has signed agreements on mutual recognition of driving licenses with Israel, Turkey, Albania, Spain, Lithuania, and Greece. A similar document has been signed with France and will soon enter into force. At the same time, a joint declaration of intent on the transcription of driving licenses was signed with Germany. This means that driving licenses can be exchanged after passing a practical test. // 18.06.2025 — InfoMarket.
