The II International Forum on the Film Industry was held in Moldova
The Cinema Hora Film Forum brought together about 100 film industry representatives from 30 countries and Moldovan film industry representatives in Chisinau. The platform created conditions for cooperation between the film directors’ community from Moldova and other countries. This year, the event was held under the slogan “Film 360 – Expanded Horizons”. The participants discussed ways to transform the film industry so that it becomes a catalyst for economic, social and cultural transformations. They talked about the direct economic benefits that this industry creates, which is related to others, such as the creative industry, tourism, and the development of the local economy. At the same time, the speakers drew attention to the need to invest in all segments of this industry – from education to the introduction of innovative technologies. The participants also talked about the healing power of cinema and the possibilities of organizing film screenings in hospitals, as this can transform medical spaces into places of comfort, and joint viewing of films can become therapy for authors and viewers. Another panel discussed increasing cinematic literacy through festival venues, cinema caravans – touring screenings in regions where there are no cinemas, organizing special programs for youth and children, master classes, interactive events, etc. A separate panel was dedicated to preserving and valorizing film archives, as well as mentoring and supporting future generations. The Cinema Hora forum was organized by the National Cinematography Center of the Republic of Moldova with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Future Technologies (FTA) project, funded by USAID, Sweden and the UK.// 03.12.2024 – InfoMarket.
