The total amount spent by Moldovan residents on vacations this year exceeds 540 million euros and is equivalent to the export of wine for 5 years - Veaceslav Ionita

Economic policy expert at the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) Viitorul announced such figures, noting that they include both organized through travel agencies and independent trips, as well as additional expenses of tourists. According to Veaceslav Ionita, Moldovans continue to prove that they love traveling and well-deserved rest and this year, more than 400 thousand people will go on vacation through travel agencies, and some of them even make 3-4 trips a year. According to the expert, a vacation organized through a travel agency costs an average of 560 euros per person, to which additional costs are added. In addition, more than 460 thousand Moldovans prefer to travel independently, without the help of travel agencies. Veaceslav Ionita said that if we take into account all types of trips, including independent ones and additional expenses, the total amount spent by Moldovans on vacations this year exceeds 540 million euros. According to him, this amount is equivalent to the export of Moldovan wine for 5 years. The IDIS Viitorul expert drew attention to the fact that the war in Ukraine reduced the trips to the country, which used to be a favorite vacation destination both in summer and winter. However, citizens of our country have found alternatives and continue to travel to international destinations. “Vacation is not only a moment of rest, but also a proof that Moldovans know how to invest in impressions, memories and personal well-being,” Veaceslav Ionita said. //26.11.2024 - InfoMarket.
