Moldovan schools will ban the use of mobile phones during lessons
This is provided for by the relevant amendments to the Education Code, which were approved by the government. According to the changes, students will not be able to use phones during lessons, except when they need them for educational purposes, in emergency situations, such as the poor health of a student or teacher, health problems of a family member, unpredictable crisis situations, as well as in the event of the need to monitor the health of students with disabilities or with severe chronic somatic diseases, which is confirmed by documents. As noted by the Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun, in Moldova there is already a practice of banning the use of mobile phones during lessons, which was introduced by individual schools themselves. However, the Ministry of Education has received numerous requests from educational institutions to strengthen this practice through legal regulation. The department conducted a public survey on the use of mobile phones in educational institutions, in which 13,086 respondents took part, of which 28.2% were teaching staff, 55.5% were parents and 16.3% were students. The survey findings show that the use of a mobile phone in an educational institution without certain restrictions distracts attention during classes and increases the child's dependence on the phone, which causes increased fatigue and anxiety in the child, affecting his/her mental health. The ban on the use of mobile phones during lessons is aimed at increasing the level of safety in the school environment. The phenomenon of cyberbullying will also be significantly reduced. The conditions and procedure for the use of mobile phones, as well as other electronic equipment in schools, will be determined by regulations. // 20.11.2024 — InfoMarket
