In Moldova, judges and prosecutors will receive compensation for transportation or rent if they work in settlements other than their place of residence
This is provided for by amendments to the current legislation, which the government approved to expand social guarantees for judges and prosecutors. According to the draft law approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, compensation will be provided if the distance between the settlement where a person works and the settlement of residence exceeds 20 km. In this case, in the case of living in rented housing, the amount specified in the rental agreement will be compensated, and the monthly compensation amount will not exceed 4,500 lei. If a person is entitled to both types of compensation, he/she will be able to use only one of them. The calculation formula will be established by a government decree, which is at the development stage. This measure is intended to encourage candidates for the positions of prosecutors and judges to agree to appointments to positions outside the capital. Thus, the institutional capacity of courts and prosecutors' offices will increase, and prerequisites will be created for improving the quality of judges' work. Currently, the category of potential recipients of compensation for travel or rent includes 189 people.// 20.11.2024 — InfoMarket
