Moldova’s legislation on evaluation and accreditation in the health care system will be harmonized with EU best practices
This is stipulated by the relevant amendments to the Law on evaluation and accreditation in the health care system, passed by the Parliament in the first reading. The aim of this legislative initiative is to bring the field of evaluation and accreditation in the Moldovan healthcare system in line with the best European practices, thus contributing to increasing the confidence of the population both in the quality of the services provided and in the safety of patients. Some changes are introduced in the content of the accreditation certificate and its issuance, which will facilitate the identification of the provider and the control of compliance of the services provided in its subdivisions or branches. Currently, the provider initiates the assessment and accreditation procedure at least 45 calendar days prior to the expiration of the accreditation certificate, which is insufficient for a quality and objective procedure. For this reason, it is proposed to extend the period from 45 to 90 calendar days. The draft law also provides for the regulation of the conditions for the assessment and accreditation of newly established health care providers. At the same time, the new changes will bring more clarity to the calculation of fees for evaluation and accreditation services. // 19.07.2024 - InfoMarket.
