The Slavic University of Moldova ceases its activities on July 22.
According to the Ministry of Education and Research, this decision was made by the general meeting of the founders of this private university at a meeting on May 20. Students will be able to transfer to another university for a specialty similar to theirs. The Ministry of Education noted that the suspension of the university’s activities is due to the fact that it failed to obtain accreditation of educational programs for licentiate and master’s degrees, as well as due to numerous warnings from the ministry. At the same time, the university administration appealed to the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research with a request to revoke the current accreditation of the Business and Management, Marketing Logistics, Psychology and Information Technology programs. It is worth noting that the Slavic University of Moldova is a private university created in 1997. Its founder and rector is Oleg Babenco, who held government positions over the years, including in 2017-2018 was the head of the Bureau of Interethnic Relations. The university trained specialists in humanitarian and economic fields. Since 1999, the Svetoch Lyceum has been operating at the university.” According to the financial report of the university, the institution has been suffering losses for the last 2 years, and its assets have been decreasing.
