According to the National Social Insurance House, at the beginning of 2024 there were 674.9 thousand pension recipients in Moldova, which is almost 800 beneficiaries less than a year ago. Moreover, 63% of pensioners in Moldova are women, 37% are men. The average pension amounted to 3676.7 lei, which is 16.5% more than a year ago, while for men it amounted to 4181.6 lei, for women – 3384.4 lei. The highest average pension is for some civil aviation workers (15,088.1 lei, while for men it is 1.6 times more than for women), and the smallest average pension is for long service (about 1,676 lei), according to disabilities (2451.4 lei), conscripts and members of their families (2526.3 lei), pensions for individual cultural workers (about 2565 lei). The average payment for all pension categories is higher for men than for women. As for the geographical distribution, pensioners from Chisinau receive the highest pension - about 5.3 thousand lei. The lowest average pensions are in Nisporeni, Soldanesti, Telenesti, Cantemir, Singerei and Briceni districts - 2.8-2.9 thousand lei. The most pensioners are in the municipality of Chisinau - 162.8 thousand people, and the fewest pensioners are in the Vulcanesti, Basarabeasca and Taraclia districts, and the average pension there is about 3177 lei, 3428 lei and, accordingly, 3216 lei. At the same time, 1,630 people received pensions on the basis of intergovernmental bilateral agreements; the average payment as of January 1, 2024 was 2,682 lei. According to the National Social Insurance House, at the beginning of January, 78% of pensioners in Moldova received a pension upon reaching retirement age (528.7 thousand people), 14.6% - due to disability (98.8 thousand people), 1.7% - according to case of loss of a breadwinner (11.8 thousand people), 0.7% - early retirement for long-term work (4.8 thousand people). The remaining 5% of pensions are received by: 1,840 participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, 966 beneficiaries of early retirement pensions, 645 conscripts and members of their families, 449 civil aviation workers, 32 cultural workers, 23 beneficiaries of long-service pensions. // 22.01.2024 — InfoMarket.
